Laura Fantini, an Italian in New York

The Object Image Gallery (91 Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn, NY), in the young and up-coming neighborhood of Park Slope in New York City, showcased from December 3- 20, 2004 an exhibition entitled “Holiday Art Show”. For the occasion, new artists of the gallery were introduced: Laura Fantini (the only Italian artist present with her hyper-realistic artworks in pastels and colored pencils and some floral sketches), Patricia Melvin, Kate Sjursen, David Vigon, P.K. Williams. This is what has been written about Laura Fantini, young Italian artist who exhibits in Bologna and New York and who already has showcased her work at the Papp Gallery in Soho in 2001: “Laura Fantini strives for the total recovery of the image and she appears to assert that objectivity is the real protagonist of art while its operator is valuable for its technical abilities. Some results, I must say, showcase a certain balance and highlight a style that speaks clearly of sensibility and creative spirit. The scrupulous respect for the truth doesn’t affect nor freeze the freedom of the artist…(Elio Succi)”.

At the exhibition were also works by the following artists: Michael Calabrese, Ruben Corzo, Thomas Hagen, Erica Harris, Tom Keogh, Stephanie Lainoff, Gareth McRae, Jonas Mlenak, Tina Olsen, Greg Paquette, Stan Peterson, Charles Robertson, Nick Thabit, Robert Weiss, Ken Weiss, Janet Yake.

Due to its success, the exhibition was extended through January.
